A few years ago I switched to the Dvorak keyboard layout and loved how much better it felt to type. I am now taking a course on human computer interaction and was reminded of this alternative layout. I forget why exactly I switched back to QWERTY, though I suspect it was because I was switching computers a lot at the time. Regardless, I started up Dvorak again tonight and very quickly remembered all the keys, clearly a testament to muscle memory as my regular memory is awful. My speed and accuracy isn’t great yet, but I’ve already seen steady improvement (eg. I typed this whole post without looking at a key map) and am enjoying the nostalgic feeling of this layout’s comfort.
